OCCI board approves launch of digital services

Muscat: As part of its strategic plan, the Board of Directors of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) on Sunday adopted the electronic transformation of the Chamber's services.
The approval came during a meeting of the OCCI Board of Directors headed by Said bin Saleh Al Kiyoumi, Chairman of OCCI Board of Directors.
The move comes as part of the strategic plan of digital transformation through which OCCI aims to keep pace with the Sultanate's move towards e-government; and to improve the quality of services provided by OCCI in accordance with specific standards and time limits.
The Board also adopted the application of the "telecommuting system" with the date of launching the electronic services, which means that the OCCI staff are responsible for the provision of services related to their work outside the normal and usual work place, whether at home or public places or even during the leave period.
The step will speed up and facilitate the completion of applications and accuracy in their performance, and the optimal utilisation of modern technology.
The OCCI electronic services include registration and renewal of membership, replacement of certificates, company data, capital change, certificate of origin and other services.
The OCCI Board looks forward to launching these services before the end of this year.
The Board was briefed on the initiative to make the private sector more attractive to the national workforce, which was provided by the Implementation and Follow-up Support Unit of the National Programme for Enhancing Economic Diversification (Tanfeedh), which aims to provide housing for workers to provide a stimulating and attractive work environment for the national workforce to work in the private sector.
