Muscat: Sheikh Nasser bin Showain Al Hosni, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labour visited the Wilayat of Ibri in Al Dhahirah Governorate recently.
The visit was part of the ministry’s plan to various governorates in the Sultanate of Oman to remove the obstacles coming in the way of execution of plans.
Sheikh Al Hosni met with officials and employees at the Directorate General of Labour and was apprised about the problems faced in the day-to-day work.
He directed the officials to take necessary action to eliminate the obstacles.
He also discussed with the officials a number of issues to improve the quality of work. He was briefed on the work done by the Ministry of Labour and the Directorate General of Labour jointly.
Sheikh Al Hosni met with businessmen also who communicated to him the difficulties and challenges they faced in taking decisions.
During his visit to some establishments, he was briefed on the efforts at ‘Omanisation’ of professions, improvement in productivity and the ways of handling crises such as the COVID-19 pandemic.
The officials at the establishments praised the way the undersecretary responded to the problems brought before him.
Nabhan Al Battashi, Chairman of the General Federation of Oman Workers spoke on the Social Dialogue Committee which was formed to initiate dialogue on various issues confronting the labour market.
The committee considers the workers’ issues and work systems at the establishments before devising legislations.
