Muscat: The Council of Administrative Affairs for Judiciary is closely working with the Ministry of Labour and the Unit of Implementation of Oman Vision 2040 to devise a number of initiatives to develop and streamline the administration of justice relating to labour in the Sultanate of Oman.
These initiatives are expected to contribute to the improvement of business environment in the Sultanate.
So far, the Council of Administrative Affairs for Judiciary has launched two initiatives: First, assigning a number of judges with the labour disputes settlement committees in the Labour department and second, the establishment of evening labour departments in Muscat Governorate.
These initiatives are aimed at implementing the legal provisions as also to ease the litigation procedures relating to disputes listed in the Royal Decree No. 125/2020 and to support the policies on improvement of business environment in the country.
The initiatives are also aimed at improving the methods of deliberation in labour disputes so as to cut time and ease procedures.
The Council of Administrative Affairs for Judiciary has also assigned a number of judges to be part of the committees on labour disputes settlement in the labour departments in various governorates of the Sultanate.
On the other hand, and as part of its endeavour to accelerate the pace of settlement of labour cases, the Council of Administrative Affairs for Judiciary has taken a decision on formation of three evening labour departments in the courts of Muscat, Seeb and Al Amerat.
This step comes in the wake of increase in the number of labour cases, which stood at 3,024 before the Muscat Primary Court in 2021.
