MSX index ends marginally higher

MSX index ends marginally higher

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,261.99 points, up by 0.2 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended down by 0.07 per cent at 482.76 points.

Sohar Power, up 9.76 per cent, was the top gainer while, Dhofar International Development & Investment Company (DIDIC), down 9.7 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Galfar Engineering were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Bank Muscat were the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 821 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR3.13 million, with more than 14.69 million shares changing hands. Out of 53 traded securities, 20 advanced, 9 declined, and 24 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net buyers of OMR70,000 followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR29,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6,749.19 points, up 0.08 per cent. Prices of Al Madina Investments, Oman Qatar Insurance, Ahlia Insurance, National Bank Oman and Global Financial Investments were up by 7.69 per cent, 2.9 per cent, 2.03 per cent, 1.43 per cent and 1.33 per cent respectively. Prices of DIDIC, Sohar International Bank and Bank Nizwa were down by 9.7 per cent, 1.75 per cent and 1.02 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 6,126.12 points, up 0.46 per cent. Prices of Oman Fisheries, Galfar Engineering and Oman Cement were up by 9.17 per cent, 1.03 per cent and 0.84 per cent respectively. Prices of Gulf Mushroom Products and Jazeera Steel Products were down by 3.08 per cent and 0.52 per cent respectively.

Services Index was up by 0.35 per cent before closing at 1,675.93 points. Prices of Sohar Power, SMN Power Holding, National Gas, Ooredoo and Renaissance Services were up by 9.76 per cent, 4.76 per cent, 3.57 per cent, 2.94 per cent, and 1.33 per cent respectively. Prices of Dhofar Generating, Al Batinah Power, Al Suwadi Power and Majan College were down by 4.62 per cent, 2.04 per cent, 2.0 per cent and 1.37 per cent respectively.
