Researcher gets intellectual property rights for mobile app

Muscat:  Huda bint Ali Al Hosni, a Phd student from the College of Education at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) obtained the Intellectual Property rights  from the National Bureau of Intellectual Property at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion for its research project in the form of a mobile application  called ‘Dr. Science’.

The project is based on Gamification. The researcher also obtained a research finance from the Research Council.

The application is formed from a number of Gamification Mechanisms, such as medals, challenges  leaderboard and points store.  The application comprises a number of sections on implementation of scientific experiments in the classroom and at home.

The application also comprises a section on acquisition of scientific concepts through playing in a serial of challenges simulating the famous Mario game.

The student can enter a number of challenges and adventures without feeling bored and at the same time the student does his / her homework or the projects.

The students bags medals on accomplishment of a number of tasks.
