Muscat: In honour of Pakistan’s 70th Independence Day, HE Ali Javed, the Ambassador of Pakistan, hosted the launch ceremony for “Young Pakistan Forum Oman” (YPFO), recently.
“The YPFO was conceptualised to showcase brilliance and hone the talent of our youth into leadership roles. It shall serve as a bridge between youth and civil societies,” HE Javed said.
There are 272,000 Pakistanis and 8,000 students in Pakistani Schools in Oman. YPFO is a key ‘connectivity initiative’, with students at its very core, focusing on Arts, Sports, Education, IT and Social Media whereas Internship, Mentoring and Lecture Circuits shall also be organised through YPFO.
A young entrepreneur Mudassir Rizvi of ‘Al Burkan Group’ has designed, hosted and gifted the website www.ypfo.pk.
During the ceremony, excerpts for the youth from Prime Minister HE Shahid Khaqan Abbasi’s message for Independence Day, voice and video messages from Senator HE Nuzhat Sadiq, Chairman Foreign Relations Committee in Senate of Pakistan, Chairman BoG OPF Barrister Amjad Malik, Professor Jansen (Pakistan’s Medal of Distinction 1984) Founding Rector German University of Technology (GU Tech) and founder Mohen-Jo Daro Center at GU Tech and Stephan Grant, Artist were played.
A presentation was delivered by the Ambassador to a select audience of 75 including Mohamed Issa Al Zajdali, Chairman Muscat Media Group & Editor in Chief ‘Times of Oman’, Sheikh Said Saqlawi, President Society of Writers & Literati (1,200 members), and Alpana Roy, Executive VP United Media Services.
Parents, Senior Principal, Branch Principals, Head Boys and Girls representing seven branches of Pakistan School System (PSM) Principal Beacon House actively participated. Pakistani presence in Oman inclusive of Pakistan based institutions (HBL, PIA, Air Blue, Shaheen Air), members Overseas Pakistani Advisory Council, leading public and private sector professionals, businessmen and journalists.
Sheherbano Hassan (16, Muscat Int’l School), 1st position paper on ‘Nuclear Security’ in Model UN, straight A’s students from Omani public schools; and Ayesha Shaheen (18) 1st in Academics (96.78 per cent) also 1st among 6,000 in Holy Quran recitation (female category) were in attendance.
Other students represented the Pakistan youth, including Nabila Balushi (18), 2nd in Academics, Sheheryar John, topper paper 8 (ACCA), Rida Shahzad Omani Scholarship on open merit and Embassy interns Khadija Hamirani (18, London School of Oriental & African Studies) and Saad Aftab (18, NUST Islamabad) former Head Boy, PSM with perfect 2400/2400 in SAT-II.
