Ministry of Tourism hosts skill training workshop for women in Oman

Muscat: The Ministry of Tourism hosted a ‘Springboard’ workshop to train and empower Omani women working in the tourism and hospitality sector, as well as entrepreneurs.
The workshop was organised by telecom operator Ooredoo in collaboration with the British Council as part of a MoU signed between the ministry and Ooredoo. The MoU aims to reinforce the partnership between the private and public sectors’ human resources, and its prime goal is to further train and enhance the skills of women working in the tourism and hospitality sector.
Raid Bin Mohammed Dawoud, Director General of Government Relations and Trade Affairs at Ooredoo Oman said: “We are pleased to collaborate with the Ministry of Tourism which has provided us with a multi-purpose room to host our workshops and interviews. Through this programme, we hope to empower women throughout the sultanate and help them become successful entrepreneurs, as well as employees.”
The programme includes four workshops that are held at intervals, in order to give the participating women sufficient time to apply the concepts that they have learnt. During the course of the programme each of the participants is assigned a project in the fields of tourism, culture, arts, sports or economy that supports the community.
By the end of the program, a graduation ceremony is also held to felicitate each participant.
