Don't fall for OMR20,000 lottery SMS scam, Omantel warns

Muscat: OMR 20,000 phone scammers are now sending text messages to potential victims, according to Omantel.

"This message is not true and an example of an attempt to scam and fraud. Did you get the text? Do not postpone in reporting and warning others," Omantel stated.

"This message has been produced for you from the Nawras (Ooredoo) company with a contract with Omantel communications to inform you that Ooredoo is organizing 2017 promotion in cooperation with Omantel," the scam message reads.

"You will be chosen for this promotion to receive a large monetary award worth OMR20,000. We congratulate you from Ooredoo Oman and Omantel."
