Landslides and rain kill almost 100 people across Nepal and India

The death toll in Nepal rises to almost 50 people after torrential rain batters the region, while a landslide in India kills dozens more.
A scene of tragedy in Nepal where almost 50 people are dead after days of torrential rain.
Officials say the toll could go even higher with three dozen people still reported missing.
"There were three elderly women in an old aged home who were calling for help - but I couldn't reach them because of the heavy flood," said one resident.
5,000 people have been evacuated so far and more than 34 thousand houses are submerged under water, as Monsoon rain continues to batter the region.
Meanwhile, neighboring India is seeing similar devastation.
The death toll in the country's north climbing to almost 50 people after a landslide swept two busses off a road and into a gorge in the middle of a storm.
That disaster also hitting the local community hard.
"We have nothing left. Our cattle and food, everything is lost now. We are left with only what we are wearing," said a local woman.
For many in rural India, monsoon rains are an economic lifeline, but they're also responsible for thousands of deaths every year.
