Ukraine crisis: GCC lauds UN's efforts to bring in peace

Muscat: The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has affirmed the preferences of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, that they are following with concern the situation in the Republic of Ukraine and welcome the efforts made by the United Nations (UN) to reach a peaceful and sustainable settlement of the crisis.

The group called on the parties concerned in the Russian-Ukrainian war to return to diplomacy and resort to dialogue and peaceful negotiations, on the basis of the well-established principles of international law and the charter of the United Nations, and welcomes the efforts made by the United Nations to reach a peaceful and sustainable settlement of the crisis.

The Sultanate of Oman was represented in the meeting by His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Awad Al Hassan, the Sultanate's permanent representative to the United Nations in New York.
