New Delhi: India’s Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal has urged startups to make India become self-reliant in energy and defence fields.
Giving an example of the COVID-19 pandemic, he said that every crisis can be converted into an opportunity.
COVID-19, the ‘biggest crisis of the century’, was converted into an opportunity with our youth coming up with innovative solutions to the problems, said Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution and Textiles.
He said that one can find many opportunities, even in the current Ukraine-Russia crisis which is a wakeup call for us, not to be dependent on others for crude and defence equipment.
He asked startups to help India become self-reliant in energy field.
Some of the startups are looking for innovative solutions for localisation of defence equipment.
The current scenario perfectly fits into the Make in India initiative launched by our Prime Minister Narendra Modi eight years ago, he said. “We have fought collectively COVID-19 under the PM’s leadership, he added.
The Minister assured the startups that the government was ready to meet their needs, and for them the doors are open round the clock.
While referring to the traffic problem across the country, he asked startups to find solutions to ease jams.
Even the Railway Minster Ashwini Vaishnav presented has said that the new semiconductor policy provides ample support to start-ups and they should grab the opportunity.
