Oman tennis: Fatma Al Nabhani eases into singles second round in Spain

Muscat: A day after booking her place in the doubles quarterfinals, Omani ace Fatma Al Nabhani eased into the second round of the singles competition in the $15,000 ITF Pro Circuit Las Palmos de Gran Canaria tournament in Spain on Tuesday.
In a first round match, the Omani top seed barely broke a sweat as she brushed aside the challenge of Frenchgirl Fiona Codino, conceding just two games on way to a 6-2, 6-0 victory.
In the second round, the Omani star will take on the winner of the match between German qualifier Vivien Klein and Spanish wild card Carlota Martin Santana.
In the doubles quarterfinals to be played on Wednesday, Fatma and her Spanish partner Arabela Fernandez Rabener will take on Fiona Codino of France and Jil Nora Engelmann of Germany.
The third seeds reached the quarterfinals after defeating American duo of Mary Closs and Natalia Maynetto 6-1, 6-0 in Monday’s first round match.
