1. After frying fish put a few potato peelings in the fat to purify it. Use fat again.

2. To prevent brown sugar from hardening: To help brown sugar stay soft and scoopable toss an orange peel or a slice of apple along with the sugar into an airtight container. For a quick fix, microwave brown sugar next to a small glass of water. The moisture within the microwave will help break up the block of sweetener.

3. Add 1 tablespoon leftover pickle masala to regular subzi to make achari aloo, achari bhindi, achari brinjal or any dry curry of your choice.

4. Add a pinch of dried mint powder in tomato soup to make it more flavourful.

5. Keep an apple by potatoes. They will stay fresh and will not sprout easily. [email protected]
