Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman has offered its condolences for the victims of the earthquake that hit northeastern Japan late at night on Wednesday.
The earthquake, which measured 7.4 on the Richter scale, led to the death of 4 people while around 160 more were injured. A bullet train was also derailed and a Tsunami alert was issued earlier today before it was withdrawn a bit later, according to agencies.
"The Ministry of Foreign expressed its sincere condolences to the friendly government and people of Japan for the victims of the earthquake that struck northeastern Japan yesterday evening, and expressed its wishes for a speedy recovery for the injured," the foreign affairs ministry said in a statement.
