National Museum inaugurates 'Beyond the Form' exhibition
The National Museum is the first museum in the Sultanate of Oman that includes a learning centre, equipped according to the highest international standards.

Muscat: Within the framework of Art and Culture support, the National Museum, represented by the Learning Centre, on Tuesday inaugurated “Beyond the Form” exhibition by the Artist Reem Al Shaikh.

The exhibition will be open to all visitors starting from yesterday till 31 March 2022.

In this photographic series, the artist employed a special imaging technique to produce images contrary to what is customary in photography techniques; an image that is not clear and borders are blurred.

This unique technique of photography is made by manipulating the time period for capturing the scene in the camera, and waiting for the movement of the body when it comes out of its frame with every movement that is unpredictable or repetitive.

This technique inspires Reem’s imagination to record the shot, and erase clear body frames to remove the boundaries of the human body; allowing the form to be created. The artist created this form of art to transcend societal norms and rules, and to get out of her reality and travel to another world of her imagination.

The artist specialises in the art of abstract painting, where her work discusses identity and societal traditions.

The National Museum is the first museum in the Sultanate of Oman that includes a learning centre, equipped according to the highest international standards.

The centre offers various educational programmes aimed at raising public awareness about the importance of the Omani cultural heritage, thus creating more interest among all categories of visitors in the ancient history of Oman.
