Pact signed to establish green buffer zone in Sur Industrial City

Muscat : An agreement was signed between Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn) and Oman India Fertiliser Company (OMIFCO), to establish a green buffer zone in Sur Industrial City.

"Madayn signed an agreement with the Oman India Fertiliser Company (OMIFCO) to establish a green buffer zone in Sur industrial city, based on Madayn’s plans to create an environmental balance and increase the green area in its industrial cities and to enhance the role of the existing partnership between the public and private sectors, " Madayn said in a statement.

The agreement aims to contribute to reducing carbon emissions in the industrial city and its surroundings, provided that the first phase of the project will be implemented on an estimated area of ten hectares.

The agreement was signed by Engineer Abdul Qadir Al Balushi, General Manager of Sur Industrial City, and Qassim Al Balushi, Manager of Strategic Planning for Sustainability at OMIFCO.
