26th edition of Muscat International Book Fair begins

Muscat: The activities of the 26th edition of the Muscat International Book Fair were launched under the auspices of His Highness Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham Al Said, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, at the Oman  Convention and Exhibition Centre.

"His Highness Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham Al Said toured the corridors of the exhibition, where he visited a number of corners and pavilions designated for institutions and official bodies and a number of corners designated for children in addition to the pavilions of the participating countries. His Highness the Minister listened to a detailed explanation of what they offer and the publishing houses participating in the exhibition from inside and outside the Sultanate of Oman, " Oman News Agency (ONA) said in a statement.

The Minister concluded his tour with a visit to the corner of South Al Sharqiyah Governorate, the guest of honour of the exhibition, where he was briefed on the manuscripts, collectibles and tools contained in the corner that reflect the past and present period of the Governorate.

This session, which will continue until 5th March, will witness the participation of 570 publishing houses directly and indirectly through agencies 145 publishing houses, bringing the total to 715 participation from (27) countries.

114 cultural activities will be implemented on the sidelines of the exhibition, including lectures, cultural and scientific seminars,  in addition to activities for children.
