Lots happened in the Sultanate of Oman this past week. Here are our top five headlines from last week, with Times of Oman's News Rewind:
The Ministry of Manpower announced on Thursday that all private companies falling under the provisions of the Labour Law would have to pay employees their salaries no later that June 20.
UAE's Federal Authority for Government Human Resources announced that holidays for Eid ul-Fitr for the Emirates would begin on Saturday, 24th June (29th Ramadan), according to the Emirates News Agency. The authority also extended Eid greetings to the people of the Arab and Muslim world.
The Royal Oman Police said that citizens and residents would need to submit their home addresses while applying for or renewing their IDs and Resident cards. However, they later issued a clarification saying that expats could still provide their sponsor's address. The ROP, however, added that a home address would be preferred as it would benefit all aspects of government procedure, as well as security.
Yet another bus crash took place on Wednesday evening, at the Qarn al-Alam Triangle in Oman. An update on Thursday revealed that eight people had died in all, and 12 more were still being treated at various hospitals.
In other news, 15 expats converted to Islam at an event held to introduce the religion to people, organised by the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs.
