Seminar on the Oman National Qualification Framework begins

Muscat: A discussion on the draft of the Oman National Qualification Framework began on Tuesday.
The two-day consultative seminar on Oman National Qualification Framework (ONQF), organised by Oman Academic Accreditation Authority (OAAA) opened at Crowne Plaza Hotel- Muscat on Tuesday under the auspices of Dr. Said bin Hamad Al Rabie, Secretary General of the Education Council.
Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Sarmi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education and chairman of OAAA delivered a speech where he pointed out that the development of the national qualification framework aims at ensuring integration among the different educational sectors, enhances confidence in its outputs, enhances the image of technical education and vocational training, encouraging Omani youth involvement in them and enhancing links among education, training, industry and business. It also aims at developing the technical and vocational skills at the labour market to enhance sustainable social and economic development.
Dr. Salim bin Ridha Radhwi, CEO of OAAA gave a background on the Authority and the ONQF in terms of its benefits and outcomes.
The panel discussed the draft framework to come out with visions that develop the project and ensure its smooth implementation.
