Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre gears up for Layali Ramadan

Muscat: Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre (OCEC) is gearing up for the launch of Layali Ramadan—a series of events and activities that will take place during the holy month.
Combining traditional celebrations with state-of-the-art facilities, Layali Ramadan will run from June 1 to 24, providing a warm and welcoming place to families, friends and colleagues.
The inaugural OCEC Ramadan event will feature a sumptuous Iftar banquet in the concourse and a special themed exhibition hall and will boast a wide selection of Omani and international cuisines to suit all palates. Over 1,000 people could be hosted per day, with private Iftar parties for corporate and individual gatherings available on prior request.
In keeping with traditional activities during the holy month, OCEC will also host an extravagant night Souq Layali in Hall 5. The souq will be the place to shop during Ramadan and will have a market featuring Omani specialties, clothing, jewellery and accessories, beauty products, personal care, perfumes, home appliances, electronics, handicrafts, souvenirs and collectibles.
The Sports Layali will also host a variety of fun, family oriented sports activities, including indoor cricket, football and table tennis. In addition, OCEC will be the venue for the ‘KOOOORA Wa Bas’ corporate Ramadan tournament hosted by SABCO media. A play zone with a variety of rides will be available for children, ensuring that even the youngest visitors are catered for at this first-of-its-kind event.
Nojoom Al Inshad, a competition hosted by OCEC every night during Ramadan, will give participants the chance to win Iftar vouchers and will be aired live on Oman Radio.
OCEC will also provide ample space for more than 200 worshippers for Ishaa and Taraweeh prayers.
Speaking about the event, Trevor McCartney, general manager of OCEC, said: “Layali Ramadan will bring an exciting, new event to Muscat during the holy month. Ramadan is a time for reflection, spiritual renewal and peace and OCEC aims to provide an experience to reflect these values.
