Two dead, four injured in Mabella blaze

Muscat: Two people, including a 10-year-old child died and four others were injured in a blaze that broke out early on Monday morning in Mabella, said the fire brigade officials. The Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulance (PACDA) rushed to the scene and doused the fire. “At 3.23 am, fire fighting and ambulance teams in the Muscat Governorate dealt with a fire at a house in south Mabella,” the PACDA said. “The fire resulted in two deaths, one of which was of a 10-year-old child, and the second was a domestic worker. Four others were rescued from the blaze, and are currently in a stable medical condition,” it added. Fires caused by electricity, either by misuse, poor maintenance or faulty equipment, are on the rise in homes in Oman, say authorities. The General Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulance (PACDA) reported an increase in number of electrical fires over the last year. Last year saw 387 incidents, while 2015 had 250, and 2014 only 218.
