Muscat: Two people died and seven were critically injured after a private bus and a truck collided near Haima in Oman, on Friday morning, police have confirmed.
A further 34 were treated for moderate to minor injuries and emergency airlifts were organised for those critically injured.
Three people fighting for life were airlifted to Nizwa hospital and nine others were transported by road after the crash, around 7am Friday.
The bus belonged to Salalah Line Transport, and the two killed in the accident were the drivers of the vehicles, one Indian national and one Pakistani, police have confirmed.
An official from the bus company said management are dealing with police and relatives of those passengers involved.
All involved in the crash were expatriates, mostly of Asian origin, the police statement added.
"The bus was travelling from Muscat. Both the drivers died in the accident," said Manpreet Singh, chairman of the Indian Social Club, Salalah.
The Royal Oman Police put out a statement on Friday, saying that the accident had taken place 45 kilometres south of the Haima province, and that by 9.50 am on Friday, the injured were airlifted to Haima for treatment.
