Oman transport: Shaheen Air to connect Muscat with Multan in Pakistan

Muscat: Multan, also known as the City of Saints, in Pakistan will now be connected by a direct flight from Muscat, according to travel agents working in Oman.
Shaheen Air International, Pakistan’s largest private-sector airline, will connect Muscat to Multan from April 24.
“The airline will be operating an Airbus 320 on this route where they can carry around 170 passengers,” a travel agent said.
Right now, the airline operates nine weekly flights from the Muscat International Airport, which includes Lahore, Islamabad, Sialkot and Peshawar. “The airline will be adding Multan from this month as a lot of Pakistani expats come from Multan,” he added.
Having started its operations in 1993 as the first private airline in Pakistan, Shaheen Air currently operates flights to more than 11 international destinations.
The flight will leave every Monday at 4.45 am from Muscat and arrive in Multan at 8.30 am, making it very convenient for passengers who need to travel by road to the interior cities in Pakistan.
Shaheen Air International Limited (SAI) was established as a public limited company under the Companies Ordinance, 1984 and commenced its operations as the first Pakistani private airline in December, 1993.
In January 2017, the company rebranded itself by launching a new logo. With a fleet of around 25 planes, Shaheen Air is keen to add more international destinations.
“There is an overwhelming demand for travel between Oman and Pakistan due to the existence of strong relations between the two countries. The maiden flight to Multan will mark a significant milestone for enhancing such ties and also benefit the Pakistani diaspora residing in Oman,” travel agents said.
