Muscat: The MSX index closed at 3,962.44 points, down 0.01 per cent from previous close. The Sharia Index ended up by 0.05 per cent at 588.12 points.
OIFC, up 2.10 per cent, was the top gainer while Phoenix Power, down 2.13 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of number of shares traded as well as in terms of turnover.
A total number of 354 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating turnover of OMR6 million, with more than 19 million shares changing hands. Out of 38 traded securities, 5 advanced, 9 declined and 24 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC & Arab investors were net buyers for OMR45,000 while local investors were net sellers for OMR35,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR9,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 6,313 points, down 0.007 per cent. Prices of Muscat Finance, Oman & Emirates Holding, Taageer Finance, Al Anwar Investment and Bank Muscat were down 1.64 per cent, 1.33 per cent, 1.25 per cent, 0.88 per cent and 0.45 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index remained unchanged 6,018.97 points, 0.00 per cent. Prices of Raysut Cement and Al Maha Ceramics were up 0.75 per cent and 0.40 per cent respectively. National Aluminum Product and Galfar Engineering were down 1.94 per cent and 1.25 per cent respectively.
Services Index was up by 0.04 per cent before closing at 1,710.58 points. Price of OIFC, Oman National Engineering and Omantel were up 2.10 per cent, 1.08 per cent and 0.53 per cent respectively. Phoenix Power and Dhofar Generating were down 2.13 per cent and 0.79 per cent respectively.
