BK Law to host major online forum on resolving disputes through mediation rules

Muscat: People who are interested to learn about how commercial disputes are resolved in Oman are welcome to tune into a session being organised on Twitter by local law firm BK Law, on Wednesday evening.

To be held at 8pm in a Twitter Space of BK Law, the event will discuss the mediation rules used by the Oman Commercial Arbitration Centre. Mediation is considered a very important aspect of solving legal issues, as it deals with conflict resolution outside the courtroom.

This saves the parties time, effort, and money, while ensuring that the commercial relationship continues after a satisfactory settlement is reached.

Among the experts taking part in Wednesday’s event are Dr Moosa Al Azri, who served as a judge before serving as chief executive officer (CEO) of the Oman Commercial Arbitration Centre. Al Azri has also published a book, titled “Foreign Investment in the Sultanate of Oman: Legal Guarantees and Weaknesses in Providing Investment Protection”.

Dr Habib Al Mulla, chairman of the board of directors of the Dubai International Arbitration Centre, and CEO of Baker & McKenzie Habib Al Mulla law firm will also participate in the dialogue.

Al Mulla has extensive legal experience spanning more than 30 years, in which he held various positions in the field of arbitration and financial legislation, and is considered one of the most experienced jurists and arbitrators in the region.

This panel is moderated by the well-known lawyer, Basma Al Kiyumi, director of BK Law Firm, who has worked in the Sultanate and the United Kingdom for many years, and has experience in domestic and international commercial arbitration cases.

This Space comes within the office’s community responsibility in spreading knowledge of legal matters to the public by hosting specialists and professionals in legal issues.
