Muscat: In a major swoop, 2,700 packages of the drug Khat have been confiscated by the Royal Oman Police Coastguards.
The Directorial General of Narcotics Control, along with Dhofar police and coastguards apprehended the boat on Friday evening with four people on board.
Police have stated the individuals are of Arab nationality and were found in Oman's waters next to Mirbat.
The boat was quickly seized after being spotted. Authorities discovered 12 boxes containing 2,700 packages of the drug.
Meanwhile 1,634 psychotropic pills were confiscated between Muscat and Salalah International Airport after being found thanks to baggage inspections.
