Ooredoo TV Go app launched in Oman

Muscat: Ooredoo recently launched its mobile TV app, Ooredoo TV Go offering its customers access to channels from across the globe. “We launched a couple of days ago for the mobile version. You can go to the Apple store or Google store and download the app and subscribe to the service,” newly appointed Chief Executive Officer of Ooredoo, Ian Dench told Times TV. The app provides on-demand access to various TV series and films similar to popular video streaming service Netflix.
“It is very similar (to Netflix). It offers a range of international content. You can subscribe and watch films and TV programmes from the video library that we have. And you have up to four devices connected to the service.”
Recently, Facebook and YouTube too announced the introduction of Facebook TV and YouTube TV, and Ooredoo TV Go will be diving into a similar genre of video streaming in Oman.
“It is very similar to that kind of product (Facebook TV, YouTube TV). We source content from different suppliers, so Starz is on there for example and there’s a lots more to come,” said Dench.
The app, which is compatible with iOS and Android, falls in line with Ooredoo’s goal of going digital first and providing innovative products and services in order to engage with their customers. “It is important for us to engage with our customers. We (Ooredoo) have already launched our app and from the app you can get information about our products and services and also subscribe to our services or change your packages.”
Ooredoo, keeping up with the changing trends and fast-paced evolution of the telecommunication sector, has developed from providing just basic services to providing customer-friendly content. “Ooredoo TV, which we launched a couple of days ago; is a good example that we’re going beyond connectivity, it’s about the application and content.”
The content that the viewers will get to enjoy ranges from latest films and live sports to drama, comedy, documentaries, and other shows. “We work with partners, who aggregate content from around the world and we bring it on to our platform,” Dench explained.
