Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,005.92 points, up 0.15 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index up 0.82 per cent at 592.84 points.
Voltamp Energy, up 7.81 per cent, was the top gainer while National Aluminum Product, down 7.08 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Ooredoo was the most active in terms of the number of shares traded as well as in terms of turnover.
A total number of 578 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR2.4 million, with more than 14 million shares changing hands. Out of 51 traded stocks, 17 advanced, 11 declined and 23 remained unchanged. At the session close, local investors were net buyers for OMR451,000 while GCC and Arab investors were net sellers for OMR374,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR78,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 6,361.77 points, down 0.01 per cent. Prices of Al Sharqia Investment, United Finance, Al Madina Investment, Ahlia Insurance and Madina Takaful were up 1.98 per cent, 1.69 per cent, 1.64 per cent, 1.10 per cent and 0.97 per cent respectively. Al Anwar Investment, Global Investment Holding and Sohar International Bank were down 1.67 per cent, 1.47 per cent and 1.08 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 5,940.14 points, up 0.86 per cent. Prices of Voltamp Energy, Oman Flour Mills, Oman Cement, Al Anwar Ceramics and Jazeera Steel Product were up 7.81 per cent, 3.55 per cent, 1.74 per cent, 1.30 per cent and 0.50 per cent respectively. National Aluminum Product, Dhofar Cattle Feed and Raysut Cement were down 7.08 per cent, 2.44 per cent and 0.38 per cent respectively.
Services Index remained unchanged closing at 1,719.89 points. Prices of Al Jazeera Services, Phoenix Power, Al Batinah Power and Majan College were up 4.00 per cent, 2.22 per cent, 2.00 per cent and 1.94 per cent respectively. Shell Oman Marketing, SMN Power Holding, Ooredoo, National Gas and Renaissance Services were down 3.51 per cent, 1.47 per cent, 1.04 per cent, 0.70 per cent and 0.44 per cent respectively.
