Muscat: A number of projects and programmes have been implemented by the Directorate General of Agricultural, Fisheries and Water Resources in Musandam Governorate to develop the fisheries sector in the governorate.
Oman News Agency (ONA) said in a statement: “The Directorate General of Agricultural, Fisheries and Water Resources in Musandam Governorate has implemented a number of programmes and projects to develop the fisheries sector in the governorate and achieve sustainable development in the sector.”
Engineer Abdul Latif Al Balushi, Director General of Agricultural, Fisheries and Water Resources in Musandam Governorate, said in a statement to ONA that the artificial coral reef project, which cost OMR 83,000 and was placed last June in the Wilayat of Dibba, aims to create a suitable environment for fish to breed.
The engineer stated that there are a number of projects in the livestock sector in the governorate that will be implemented with funding from the Agricultural and Fisheries Development Fund, represented in the establishment of 30 livestock pens in two phases in the Wilayat of Madha and six poultry sheds, a license to establish a manual poultry slaughterhouse and a licence to establish one poultry shed in the Wilayat of Bakha.
He points out that the Dam in the Wilayat of Bakha, which cost OMR 6 million and which was completed last May, is among the projects to protect the region from floods. The length of the dam is 660 metres, its height is 22 metres, total area is 7 km, and its storage capacity is one million and 98 thousand cubic metres.
