Muscat: The MSX index closed at 3,999.28 points, down 0.20 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index up 0.15 per cent at 585.10 points.
Ahlia Insurance, up 9.09 per cent, was the top gainer while Al Omaniya Financial Services, down 5.60 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Oman Investment & Financial was the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of turnover.
A total number of 424 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR2.7 million, with more than 12 million shares changing hands. Out of 48 traded stocks, 9 advanced, 8 declined and 31 remained unchanged. At the session close, Local investors were net buyers for OMR391,000 while foreign investors were net sellers for OMR332,000 followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR59,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 6,376.34 points, down 0.28 per cent. Prices of Ahlia Insurance and National Bank Oman were up 9.09 per cent and 0.56 per cent respectively. Al Omaniya Financial Services, Global Investment Holding, HSBC Bank Oman and Bank Dhofar were down 5.60 per cent, 1.45 per cent, 1.02 per cent and 0.83 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 5,812.86 points, down 0.07 per cent. Prices of Oman Fisheries and National Aluminum Product were up 1.28 per cent and 0.84 per cent respectively. Oman Cement was the only loser by 1.26 per cent.
Services Index was up by 0.06 per cent before closing at 1,712.56 points. The prices of SMN Power Holding, Majan College, Al Jazeera Services and Oman Investment & Financials were up 4.69 per cent, 3.33 per cent, 1.56 per cent and 0.79 per cent respectively. Al Batinah Power, Oman National Engineering and Ooredoo were down 1.92 per cent, 1.04 per cent and 0.52 per cent respectively.
