Oman transport: SalamAir set to launch flights to Dubai

Muscat: Oman’s first budget airline, SalamAir, will start its Muscat-Dubai flights from February 28, 2017.
Acording to the airlines’ website, the first flight will depart from the Muscat International Airport at 5:35 pm and will land in Dubai at 6:40 pm.
From March 1, it will be offering two flights a day – one in the morning and another during late afternoon.
It is offering three types of fares to Dubai. The light fares start from OMR21.6, friendly from OMR25.6 and flexi from OMR33.6.
Under light fares, the lowest available, passengers are allowed to carry 7kg of hand baggage, while they can carry 20kg of check-in baggage with friendly fare that comes with an option to change flights for a fee.
The flexi option allows a maximum check-in baggage of 20kg with an option to change flights for free or refund tickets for a fee.
The second aircraft of SalamAir has been named “Fat’h Al Khair,” meaning The Opening of Goodness. It has been named after the renowned ship in Sur, SalamAir Chairman, Engineer Sheikh Khalid Al Yahmadi, said in a tweet.
“The name was suggested by a community member on Twitter via a photo, and we will send him a gift for his contribution. We want to assure the community that we are a part of it, and we will continuously serve it to the best of our abilities,” he added.
The first A320 Airbus aircraft of SalamAir was named as ‘Samharam.’ After connecting Dubai, SalamAir plans to connect East Africa and Pakistan.
Focusing on its four values of care, hospitality, confidence and forward thinking, the airline plans to operate five aircraft by the end of the year, to destinations such as Jeddah, Karachi, Sialkot and Multan.
The brainchild of ASAAS, a national investment and development company, SalamAir was set up to meet Oman’s rapidly growing demand for air traffic, which is expected to grow by 40 per cent by 2019.
