Oman to participate in Gulfood exhibition

Muscat: Oman will participate in Gulfood 2017 exhibition in Dubai between February 27 and March 2 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
The Sultanate will be represented by the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE) at the event.
The exhibition this year will witness the participation of 120 countries, including Malta, Finland and Slovakia, which are participating for the first time in the event. Many heads of states, ministers, government officials and representatives of trade associations are expected to visit the exhibition. Gulfood 2017 will witness the participation of over 5,000 local, regional and international companies.
Hamood Al Balushi, the Director of Omani Products’ Department at PEIE’s Directorate General of Marketing and Media,said this will be PEIE’s fifth consecutive year to participate in Gulfood,as it considers the exhibition an important global event. “We have increased the display space this year to offer the Omani companies and factories a bigger space to promote and introduce their products to various segments of visitors. Through the Sultanate’s pavilion, we aim to highlight the high quality Omani products and the big demand for them in local and foreign markets, thus targeting new consumers at both regional and international levels,” Al Balushi said. He added, “The PEIE has succeeded in promoting Origin Oman campaign by organising awareness activities and mobile exhibitions in various governorates of the Sultanate. The PEIE has also contributed in organising Omani Products Exhibitions (OPEX) in a number of GCC and regional cities.”
This year, a number of Omani companies specialised in food industry will participate under the umbrella of the PEIE. These includeDhofar Poultry, Asaffa Foods, Omani Vegetable Oils and Derivatives, Modern Dairy Factory, Salalah Macaroni, Areej Vegetable Oils and Derivatives, Salalah Mills, Oman Foodstuff Factory, and Sweets of Oman Company. “In addition to promoting their products, these companies will have the opportunity to get acquainted with global products from various countries at one platform,” he pointed out.
“The PEIE officials will be present at this platform to underscore the available investment opportunities for the benefit of prospective investors, business owners and representatives of companies and factories.”
Gulfood is celebrating its 22nd edition in 2017, and will welcome food and beverage professionals from all corners of the globe to meet for five days of business at this central hub for international trade and commerce. The event was launched as a biennial exhibition in 1987 and has grown to promote food and beverages trade among more than 120 countries annually, enabling 5,000 providers of raw materials and ingredients to showcase the tastes, trends and innovations that are shaping the future of food and beverage consumption worldwide.
