Muscat: An exhibition featuring paintings done by children with hearing and speech impediments was organised by the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Muscat.

The works of art, which were painted by children in Kazakh boarding schools, was part of the exhibition titled ‘The World Through the Eyes of Children’, and aimed to show people how pure, positive emotions held by children provide all of us hope during the uncertain times of the pandemic.

“The reason for holding such an exhibition during the times of COVID-19 is to have something positive to unite us, rather than being united just by the common fight against the coronavirus,” said the embassy in a statement, which held the event from 21 to 24 June.

“Art is a tool that makes people of various backgrounds, race, religion, ethnicity, or social status come together and enjoy it equally,” they added. “Moreover, children are truly ambassadors of the world, and that makes children’s art a strong tool of kindness, happiness and unity.”

Oman, well-known for its love of art and culture, was chosen for the exhibition, as part of measures to build strong people-to-people ties with Kazakhstan.

The paintings were provided by the Ayalagan Alakan Public Charity Foundation in Kazakhstan, with technical support on-site provided by the National Museum of Oman.

“Another motivation for holding the exhibition was to continue the celebration of the 30th Independence Day Anniversary of Kazakhstan,” added the embassy.

“This year, Kazakhstan is very keen on fully celebrating the anniversary of its independence, and the embassy, despite downsizing celebration events due to the pandemic, continues to support this occasion by organising such exhibitions.”
