Muscat: Children and the elderly will not be allowed entry into Muttrah Market, as part of precautionary measures taken to stop the spread of COVID-19.
A number of other decisions have also been taken by Muscat Municipality concerning the Muttrah Market for Fish, Fruits and Vegetables.
Temperature checks will be carried out for all entrants to the market: those with a body temperature of more than 37.5 degrees Celsius will not be permitted to enter, as will those who aren’t wearing masks.
Visitors to the market are also required to maintain a distance of at least 1.5 metres, and must enter and exit the premises through only the one gate designated for this purpose. Proper ventilation must be put in place, and the market will also only run at 30 percent customer capacity.
Furthermore, workers must adhere to the requirements and preventive measures to halt the further spread of COVID-19, which includes wearing face masks and disposable gloves, and the frequent cleaning of display counters and surfaces.
Customers are requested not to touch the fish on display within the market, and be required to view all produce from a distance, which will be maintained through barriers erected from unused display tables.
