Summer set to start soon in Oman

Muscat: Summer in Oman will begin on Monday, the Department of Astronomical Affairs at the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs has announced.

"On Monday, June 21, 2021, the summer solstice occurs when the sun reaches its northernmost point above the Tropic of Cancer at 7.32am Oman time," the department said.

Astronomers consider the summer solstice the beginning of summer in the northern hemisphere, and the beginning of winter in the southern hemisphere.
