Global Wind Day is a worldwide event that occurs annually on 15th June. It is a day for discovering wind energy, its power and the possibilities it holds to reshape our energy systems, decarbonise our economies and boost jobs and growth. It had been organised by the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA), and in 2007 it had reached 18 countries in Europe, with around 35,000 people taking part in it.
The main idea behind the day is to celebrate wind energy, exchange information, educate the young and old about wind energy, and to highlight the power and possibilities it holds to reshape our energy systems. Organisations, along with EWEA and Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC), that work in wind energy production, organise events in different countries around the world.
