Oman's Council of Ministers addresses rising fuel costs

Muscat: Oman's Council of Ministers has today ordered that the cost of M91 fuel be fixed at its February price until the government can implement a system to help those struggling to afford fuel.

"In the context of government’s care to support society segments which have been affected by the global oil prices, the Council of Minister has directed the committee in charge of following up the oil prices to finalise mechanisms to support the deserving citizens as a result of rising prices of global fuel so that the M91 price adopted during this Month of February 2017 be fixed until the mechanism referred to comes into affect." the Council said in a statement.

The Council has announced measures to deal with rising fuel prices in the Sultanate in the wake of 'discontent' within the community over the rising fuel prices since subsidies were removed.
