Muscat: The Ministry of Labour clarifies that the decision to raise fees for bringing in expat manpower includes jobs in which a large number of citizens have the required qualifications and competency.
The ministry said in a statement: "The ministry followed with interest what was circulated and the discussions on the ministerial decision of raising fees for higher, medium and specialised professions, and would like to clarify that the ministry specialists are fully prepared to listen to the demands of employers, study their manpower needs, and prepare a government-supported replacement plan, so that their operational costs are lower and more efficient even with increasing fees for the professions referred to."
"The ministry is also ready to provide free consulting services to them in this regard," the ministry added, "To clarify, the decision is directed to raise the cost of expatriates in professions in which a large number of citizens who have practical experience in various fields and who are looking for work are available, and the decision coincides with the recent announced trend to support wages, training and qualification."
On the other hand, the ministry affirms that the replacement of Omani cadres will reduce the operational costs of any institution and will reflect positively on the prices of services provided to the public.
