Muscat: The Sultanate, represented by the Ministry of Health (MOH) took part today in the virtual meeting of the 149th session of the Executive Board (EB) of the World Health Organisation (WHO).

"H.E. Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Saidi, Minister of Health and First Deputy Member of the WHO Executive Board represented the Sultanate in the meeting along with the presence of Ambassador Idris bin Abdul Rahman Al-Khanjari, Sultanate's Permanent Representative to the United Nations and International Organisations in Geneva, H.E. Dr. Fatma bint Mohammed Al-Ajmi, MOH Undersecretary for administrative, Financial and Planning Affairs and a number of senior officials from the Ministry and Ministry of Foreign Affairs,”  MOH said in a statement.

The meeting touched upon a number of topics including the entitlements of members of the Executive Board, election of chairs, vice-chairs and rapporteur, outcome of the Seventy-fourth World Health Assembly, the report of the Programme, Budget and Administration Committee of the Executive Board, the managerial, administrative and financial matters, as well as the report on meetings of expert committees and study groups.

"Furthermore, the meeting addressed the annual report of the hosted partnerships and the future sessions of the Executive Board and the Health Assembly in addition to promoting the WHO's efficiency and effectiveness in providing better support to the countries."

"It is worth mentioning that the WHO Executive Board meets at least twice a year. The main functions of the Board are to implement the decisions and policies of the Health Assembly, advise and generally to facilitate its work,” the MOH added.
