Muscat: The MSX index closed at 3,893.91 points, up 1.07 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended up 0.89 per cent at 562.45 points.
Sharqiyah Desalination, up 8.70 per cent, was the top gainer while National Detergent, down 5.95 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Al Omaniya Financial Service were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded as well as in terms of turnover.
A total number of 1,220 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR7 million, with more than 37 million shares changing hands. Out of 46 traded stocks, 26 advanced, 3 declined and 17 remained unchanged.
At the session close, local investors were net buyers for OMR646,000 while GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR479,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR167,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 6,066.55 points, up 1.45 per cent. Muscat Finance, Al Omaniya Financial Services, Al Anwar Investment, United Finance and Sohar International Bank were up 6.67 per cent, 4.31 per cent, 3.33 per cent, 2.33 per cent and 2.27 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 5,580.79 points, up 0.58 per cent. Galfar Engineering, Al Maha Ceramic, Raysut Cement, National Aluminium Product and Jazeera Steel Product were up 6.25 per cent, 3.03 per cent, 1.37 per cent, 0.71 per cent and 0.53 per cent respectively. National Detergent was the only loser by 5.95 per cent.
Services Index was up by 0.77 per cent closing at 1,636.22 points. Sharqiyah Desalination, Al Jazeera Services, Phoenix Power, Oman Investment & Financials and Al Suwadi Power were up 8.70 per cent, 4.64 per cent, 2.13 per cent, 2.00 per cent and 1.75 per cent respectively. Majan College and National Gas were down 3.33 per cent and 0.68 per cent respectively.
