Muscat: A doctor in Oman has been suspended by the Ministry of Health following an inquiry into the death of a citizen named Munira Al Maqbaliya in what could be a case of medical negligence.
The ministry, in a statement said, “The Ministry is closely tracking the case of the late citizen Munira Al Maqbaliya and investigations into the matter are continuing. The doctor has been suspended from the profession as a precaution until the investigation is concluded by officials.” The citizen died during a surgery at a private hospital in Oman.
The ministry also stressed that it was keenly watching the medical practice in the Sultanate in the public and private sectors and was focused on the safety of medical practice. “The ministry will not tolerate any breach of professional standards,” the statement added.
