Oman signs bioethics agreement with UNESCO

Muscat: A memorandum of understanding (MoU) on bioethics capacity building was signed by the Sultanate with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) for the promotion of Bioethics programmes.
Dr. Ali bin Saud Al Bimani, Vice Chancellor of Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), Chairman of the National Bioethics Committee (NBC), and Dr. Nada Al Nashif, Assistant Director-General for Social and Human Sciences at the UNESCO signed the memorandum.
The memorandum stipulates several items that include training and capacity building for members of NBC, develop NBC work mechanisms and guiding its members on the best training resources in the world. The UNESCO will also provide information and training programs in the field of bioethics to NBC members.
