Muscat: The Media and Culture Committee of the Shura Council held a meeting on Wednesday to discuss the statement session with the Minister of Heritage and Tourism next Sunday.
A statement issued by the Shura Council said that The Media and Culture Committee of the Shura Council discussed on Wednesday its preparations for the statement session with Excellency Salim bin Mohammed Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism, which will be held next Sunday.
This came during the committee’s eighth periodic meeting for the second annual session (2020-2021) from the ninth period (2019-2023) under the chairmanship of His Excellency Ali bin Ahmed Al Maashani, Chairman of the Committee, and in the presence of Their Excellencies members of the committee.
During its meeting, the committee focused on the importance of tourism marketing and promotion role in increasing the contribution of the tourism sector to the gross national income in addition to its role in attracting tourism investment and strengthening the partnership between the public and private sector in this aspect.
The committee also discussed the ministry’s efforts in promoting Omani heritage and its development plans in the field of restoration and development of historical locations. In addition to the Ministry's efforts to the development of public and private museums.
The committee has listed a number of questions and observations about the statistics and figures mentioned in the statement, as well as to what comes within the Ministry's competence.
