Get prior approval from Ministry of Finance for vacancies

Muscat: The Ministry of Finance on Monday issued a financial circular regulating appointment to vacant posts assigned financial grades in ministries, government units and other public entities.

The circular requires all state departments to obtain the approval of the Ministry of Finance prior to announcing or advertising vacant posts, even in the case of availability of vacant financial grades (for those posts) at the departments making the announcement.

The circular, which takes the number 3/2021, requires all government departments to provide the Ministry of Finance with detailed accounts of vacant grades on a regular basis. It urges internal audit units at ministries, government units, public authorities and institutions to cross-check adherence to this mandate.
