Muscat: The total deaths since the beginning of May reached 117, with an average of 11.7 deaths per day, a social activist and data analyst said on the basis of data from the Ministry of Health, pointing to a significant increase in new deaths of coronavirus in the region.
Speaking exclusively to the Times of Oman, Ibrahim Al Maimani, a social activist and data analyst, ”There has been a continued decline in the existing cases, to reach 14,392 cases, corresponding to a continuous increase in the recoveries rate, which reached 91.8 per cent, where it was at the beginning of May, 90.3 per cent."
"For the 12th day in a row, there are more recoveries than new cases," he added.
Al Maimani confirmed also, "A decrease in hospitalised cases by 89 cases, by 11 per cent since the beginning of May, as well as a decrease in intensive care cases by 13 cases, by 5 per cent for the same period."
On Monday, statistics made available on Tarassud, the coronavirus monitoring app launched by the ministry, showed that the number of those hospitalised during the past 24 hours reached 96, and 263 patients admitted to ICU, bringing the total number of patients admitted to health institutions to 732 cases.
The Sultanate also recorded 18 deaths during the past 24 hours bringing the total to 2,138 and 787 new cases of Coronavirus, according to the daily report of the Ministry of Health.
The Ministry stated that the total number of registered cases in the Sultanate is 202,137 cases, the recovered 185,607, at 9.82 per cent, and 2,138 deaths, at 1.06 per cent.
While the total cases currently sick with COVID-19 disease in the Sultanate is 14,392, at 7.12 per cent.
