Muscat: The Environment Authority has arrested expats for burning large piles of wild tree wood for the purpose of producing tons of packed charcoal to distribute and sell in the markets.
A statement issued online by Environment Authority said: "The Environment Department in South Al-Batinah Governorate, in cooperation with the Royal Oman Police, arrested expatriate workers in one of the governorate's farms who were burning large piles of wild tree wood with the aim of producing tons of packed charcoal ready for distribution and sale in the markets. The legal procedures and configuration of seizures are being completed against them."
