Get visa to Iran within one hour in Oman

Muscat: Omanis planning to visit Iran can have their visas processed within one hour, according to officials at the Iranian embassy.
In order to enhance trade relations between Iran and Oman, the Iranian embassy in Oman has ramped up procedures to issue visas for Iran through 15 agencies around the country, according to Mohammed Toutounchi, Deputy to the Ambassador of Iran.
“We have made several efforts to improve trade relations between the two countries, and easing the visa process is one of them. A large number of people from Oman visit Iran. We can now issue a visa for Iran within one hour, thus facilitating Omanis wishing to visit Iran with the least amount of hassle,” he said.
Earlier, visa processing could take a day or two but now the process has been expedited, according to Toutounchi. Nearly 30,000 visas were issued to Omanis by the Iranian embassy in Oman.
“Omanis visit Iran mainly for business, tourism, to access healthcare facilities and to undertake pilgrimage,” he added.
He also pointed out that job opportunities for Omanis are expected to grow with a lot of Iranian companies setting up ventures in Oman.
“Two Iranian clinics have already opened in Oman and talks are on for the vehicle assembly line to be set up by Iran. It may come up this year at the Special Economic Zone in Duqm. Talks are on between the two countries in Tehran and an announcement will be made soon,” he said.
According to Toutounchi, bilateral trade between the two countries topped $1.35 billion in 2016, up 35 percent from 2015.
“We expect it to grow by a similar percentage in 2017. However, we don’t have an estimate,” he added.
