COVID-19: Oman witness record number of ICU patients

Muscat: The Sultanate has seen a record number of patients in Intensive Care Units (ICU) as more than 270 cases have been registered so far, according to data from the Ministry of Health (MOH).
On Sunday, statistics made available on Tarassud, the coronavirus monitoring app, showed that the number of those hospitalised during the past 24 hours reached 95, and 272 patients admitted to ICU, bringing the total number of patients admitted to health institutions to 818 cases.
The Sultanate also recorded 35 deaths during the past three days bringing the total to 1,977 and 3,538 new cases of Coronavirus, according to the daily report of the Ministry of Health.
The Ministry stated that the total number of registered cases in the Sultanate is 188,816 cases, the recovered 168,770, by 89.38 percent, and 1,977 deaths, by 1.05 percent.
While, the total number of cases currently sick with COVID-19 disease in the Sultanate is 18,069, by 9.57 percent.
Speaking exclusively to Times of Oman, Ibrahim Al Maimani, a social activist and Data Analyst:”3,538 new cases were recorded during the weekend, an increase of 175 cases compared to last week, as 3,363 were recorded during the last weekend, as well as 35 deaths, an average of 12 deaths per day compared to last Sunday, where 57 deaths were recorded and an average of 19 deaths during the weekend before last.
He confirmed:” We also notice a slight decrease in the number of inpatients in hospitals, as the numbers decreased from 822 cases to 818 cases, with a decrease of 4 cases, and on the other hand, we notice an increase in the numbers of intensive care from 266 cases to 272 cases and an increase of 6 cases.”
