Muscat: The Chairman of the Consumer Protection Authority has undertaken an inspection of the central market for vegetables and fruits in Al-Mawaleh, to monitor availability of goods and price stability.
A statement issued online by Consumer Protection Authority said: "His Excellency Sulayem bin Ali Al Hikmani, Chairman of the Consumer Protection Authority, made an inspection tour in the Central Market for vegetables and fruits in Al-Mawaleh in the Wilayat of Seeb, to enquire about the availability of goods and price stability and to ensure that suppliers adhere to the laws and legislations related to consumer protection, prior to the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan."
"During his tour, Al Hikmani met with suppliers and emphasised the importance of this market to consumers, especially as it accounts for 40 per cent of total sales. He said that during the coming period, consumers will visit more frequently to meet their needs, which calls for ensuring availability of various types of fresh fruits and vegetables in sufficient quantities, which is consequently reflected in price stability."
"Al Hikmani also urged them to continue their cooperation with the authority through their commitment to prices and not taking advantage of the various occasions to raise them, while not neglecting the implementation of precautionary measures against Covid 19 infection. His Excellency also met a number of consumers and listened to their comments and suggestions about the availability of goods and price stability in the market.”
