Private companies can avail vaccines for their employees in Oman: CMA

Muscat: The Ministry of Health (MOH) has allowed the companies operating in the private sector to reserve quantities of the COVID-19 vaccine for their employees.

Speaking exclusively to Times of Oman, an official from the Capital Market Authority (CMA) confirmed that the Authority on Monday 5th April 2021, has issued a circular in a letter addressed to CEOs and Directors General of companies and insurance brokers stating, “An extension of the initiatives of companies operating in the insurance sector to enhance the societal efforts made to deal with coronavirus and the effects resulting from it, we would like to inform you that we have received a letter from the Ministry of Health to address the companies operating in the sector if they wish to reserve quantities of vaccine for their employees.”

The circular added, ”However, the companies will have to bear the cost of the vaccine, the amount of 20 OMR per person including all fees for the Pfizer vaccine, according to the ministry.”

The circular pointed out, ”It should be noted that the Ministry of Health is making great efforts to provide the vaccine in light of the great international competition to obtain it. The ministry has concluded agreements with specialized international companies and the International Vaccine Alliance (GAVI) in coordination with the World Health Organization and UNICEF to obtain the adequate quantities of it."

The circular added, “We hope that the companies that want to benefit from this program will email their data with the number of targeted employees to the Directorate General of Medical Supplies's official email address - [email protected] .”
